The Bachelor ended in heartbreak for both finalist Sophie Tieman and Brittany Hockley after Nick Cummins failed to pick either as his winner.
And viewers of the popular Network Ten show were left equally frustrated after Nick sensationally dumped them both during the finale.
One viewer branded Nick ‘Australia’s most hated man’ on Twitter.
Many others slammed The Honey Badger on the social media platform in an avalanche of negative Tweets.
‘I think Nick Cummins just killed The Bachelor. Who is coming back to watch after that?’ one fan wrote.
‘What a massive waste of time and money …the badger is a flop,’ another disappointed viewer vented on social media.
Continuing the anger, someone else added: ‘What a massive waste of time indeed! Nick Cummins you are about to be one of the most hated men in Australia.’
As the backlash grew, another user wrote: ‘RIP Nick Cummins he ain’t dead but he’s about to become as hated as Blake Garvey from The Bachelor season 2.’
One more fan wrote: ‘What a scum pig. Why waste our time if you’re not ready to date anyone?’
One further Twitter user branded Nick ‘gutless and pathetic’.
Someone else wrote: ‘So Nick just snogged everything that moves and behaved like a pubescent schoolboy for our ‘viewing pleasure’ for the past 100 weeks. What a gigantic a**wipe.’
However it was not all bad news with some viewers in support of the difficult choice the Bachelor made.
One fan wrote: ‘Am I the only one that thinks if neither people are right for you and you can see that it’s not going to work out long term you have every right to not choose anyone!’
Another agreed: ‘I’m in the minority but Nick did the right thing. Why waste your time with two women who you don’t have strong feelings in the long term. Who knows what Nick wants!’
Nick sent shock waves across the nation as he dumped first Sophie and then Brittany.
‘I’m not looking for a girlfriend I’m looking for a life partner. And right now, I can’t give 100 percent to you. My head, is very clouded. Right now, I’m a little bit lost.
‘I have to say that this time has come to an end and I’m letting you go’ he said.
Once in the limousine, an upset Brittany realised that the rugby star has picked no one she demanded to see Sophie and called the whole show a ‘waste of time’.
The two women consoled one another once a devastated Nick said he realised he may not be ready for love.
‘I came here for a chance at love. Now I have to start again. She’s out there,’ he said in a piece to camera.
Nick had earlier let down Sophie, giving her a very similar speech to the one he gave Brittany.
‘Sophie it’s been a hell of journey…not only are you amazingly beautiful and smart I realised you’ve brought out something in me that’s untapped,’ he said.
‘I like you a lot Sophie,’ Nick said, but he added: ‘I am not able with all my conscience to wholeheartedly commit to you right now’.
